• Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur (2007) from former President of France, Nicolas Sarkozy.
• Prix des Générations (2007) by the World Demographic Association.
• Martin Buber Gold Medal from the Euriade Foundation (2008), founded by Werner Janssen in 1981.
• Gold medal of the President of the Republic of Italy (2010) for her achievements as a human rights activist.

Curiosidades:

Participou num filme 007 chamado ''The living daylights'' em 1987;

Escreveu 5 livros, sendo 3 bestsellers que foram: 

Desert Flower (1998)

Desert Dawn (2004)

Desert Children (2005)  

Em 2002 criou a Desert Flower Fundation em Vienna, Austria.
Mais tarde criou também a Desert Dawn Fundation, sendo esta mais concentrada na angariação de fundos para a construção de escolas e hospitais.
Em 2005 adquiriu a cidadania austríaca.
Atualmente vive em Vienna mas também em Gdansk na Polónia.
